A lifelong maker
Melinda has always been a maker. From childhood she was drawn to the textures and colours of the natural world — collecting stones from creeks, driftwood from riverbanks, and pebbles smoothed by water and time.
What started as a lifelong love of crafting has grown into Stix & Pebbles — a collection of one-of-a-kind pieces that carry the energy of the earth they came from. Every piece is handmade with intention, never mass-produced, never repeated.
She believes the materials choose the maker as much as the maker chooses the materials. Each stone, each piece of driftwood, has a story — and she simply gives it a new chapter.
The Place
Irvinebank
Irvinebank is a tiny former mining town nestled in the mountains of the Atherton Tablelands, Far North Queensland. It's the kind of place where you can hear the creek before you see it, and the stars go on forever at night.
The town sits at the end of a long dirt road — surrounded by old mining paths, hidden swimming holes, and bush trails that Melinda has walked a thousand times. This is where she finds her materials — in the creeks, along the trails, and among the rocks left behind by a century of mining.

Nature provides
Melinda doesn't buy materials from a shop. Everything comes from the earth — river stones, creek pebbles, driftwood, mountain rocks, natural fibres. All collected by hand from the landscape around Irvinebank.
Energy and meaning
Every stone carries the energy of the water that shaped it. Every piece of driftwood holds the memory of its journey. Melinda works with these energies, creating pieces that ground, heal, and connect.
